Jewel is to make a cameo appearance next year in an episode of CSI. Apparently she will be performing the US national anthem at a rodeo event which the CSI team attend to investigate two murders. [source: BuddyTV]

Is Jewel Pregnant? from Popdirt.com...Jewel hosted an evening at Aura Nightclub on Friday (August 3) in Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas. Jewel was sporting a loose fitting dress and was acting very cozy with her boyfriend Ty Murray, with plenty of the images featuring Ty's hands on the singer's tummy.

Jewel on the challenges of being a homeless teen from the Herald Tribune...The singer talks about her experiences being homeless when she was 18, how she's helping homeless teens today and what it was like to crash at 170 mph in Fast Cars and Superstars.

According to Phoenix New Times Jewel will be appearing as herself in the new comedy "mock music biopic" Walk Hard which is released later this year. Jewel makes an appearance "during one of the film's climactic scenes" where she "memorably yodels during the bridge" of the film's title song.

You may remember way back in December 2002 that Jewel recorded a track called Spirit for the UK dance artist Chicane. It now appears that this track has finally been released this week on Chicane's new album Somersault. However I can't find any mention that Jewel's vocals are on this release but it does sound like her if you listen to the sample at Juno Records.

Jewel's ethereal charm shines with Symphony from the Salt Lake Tribune...More devoted fans crowded near and swayed to the singer's ethereal voice - at times feather light then darkening for added emphasis during the chorus for songs like "Standing Still" and "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland."

On June 19, she testified about her experiences as part of a hearing before the U.S. Congress on the crisis of youth homelessness, disconnected youth, and youth aging out of foster care.

Last month Jewel flew to the remote town of Iglulik in northern Canada, which lies above the Arctic Circle, to perform a concert for Inuit teenagers as a favour for her friend Sam Branson (Richard Branson's son). Jewel still inspiring belief and hope from Rocky Mountain News...Q: Do you have a working title for the album? A: "No working title. Believe it or not, I went in the studio with a guy named John Rich from the band Big & Rich. We cut 10 songs in five days and it might be a record. It happened a lot quicker than I ever thought. There's no timeline or no hurry. I'm going to play it for a few labels and see what my options are."

Jewel is taking part in a television special on the CW Network this Friday in the US. The Poverty Crisis, a consciousness raising television special examines the hardships endured by the millions of people around the world who have to struggle every day just to survive. It is an unflinching look at poverty, including some places right here in the US.

John Rich produces Jewel's upcoming country album from Tennessean.com..."Her lyrics are unbelievably brilliant," John says. "She is more of a country singer than she is a pop singer. She has all the breaks in her voice like Tammy Wynette; she has the emotion of Patsy Cline. I didn't even realize how great she was until we got in there."

Jewel's Foolish Games is included on a new compilation cd released this week in the UK. Me Time, a collection of songs for moments of indulgence, is released by Warner Music and also includes songs by Suzanne Vega, kd Lang, David Gray and many others.

Jewel's debut album Pieces Of You has been included in the US music retailer's association NARM's Definitive 200 list at #64. The list was chosen by a committee of music retailers within NARM...It's really about the passion that music buyers have shown for these particular titles and the albums' potential for enduring popularity today with new audiences.

I noticed a number of blogs have been showing a few photos of Jewel in the last couple of days, mainly commenting about Jewel's cleavage. Although none specify where they were taken, I'm pretty sure that these are from Jewel's appearance on Channel Five's Terry and Gaby Show from 14th August 2003. A number of us were lucky enough to be in the audience that day to see Jewel chatting with Terry Wogan, sampling food and performing 2 Become 1. You can see the photos at HollywoodTuna.com.

Jewel's appearance as a guest judge on American Idol was broadcast in the US last night. It should be shown in the UK this Friday on ITV2 at 20:30 and on ITV this Saturday at 12:40.

Arthur and the Invisibles: Jewel Interview from UnderGroundOnline...With "the Invisibles," you get taken into a specific world that somebody else has carefully and lovingly planned out and you get to be swept up into the emotions of it. Then you try to take the story and condense it down into a three minute song. You try and make it sound organic which still takes a unique combination of skills to do.
