Saint Louis Blues lyrics
When Jools Holland first invited Jewel onto his Later programme, they discovered that not only do they share a similar name, but also the first song that they both learnt was Saint Louis Blues. They played the song together (with Jools on piano) as part of Jools' 5th Annual Hootenanny, broadcast in the UK on New Year's Eve 1997. It was written by William Christopher Handy in 1914.

This is also a pretty old song. I used to sing it way back when I was in my van still, singing at the now-fabled InnerChange Café. I dedicate this song to the lady who owned and ran that café, Nancy Porter. This was also recordered live. The false start at the beginning is me forgetting the lyrics. (This Way liner notes)
