ISSUE 3 MARCH 1999Eton Head
The Head is only 3 weeks away. We currently have 8/9 crews entered for the Head and Tails in the afternoon, but we haven't received any Corporate entries so far for the morning. In the case that we do not receive sufficient entries for the Corporate and providing we have received delivery of the new boat, we will be holding a 'press' morning and having the traditional Chinese 'Eye-Dotting' Ceremony to christen the boat. We will know by 22nd March - so watch this space.
We need all the help we can get. A rota will be sent out in the next week with your name against a particular job. Alternatively, you can volunteer if you don't want to be landed with a boring job. If you are not coming to the Head, then please let Cass know as soon as possible in order that this job can be reallocated.
Party - tickets on sale from Neil at £5 each including buffet dinner. Cheap drink all night and disco. Your £5 will cover the hire of the DJ, food and costs associated with holding the event. Please support your club - we need to recoup the money spent on the new boat and to raise money for new kit/equipment. If the weather is kind to us, we will have a BBQ outside and play football/rounders in the field.
Remember, this is not just a fun event for all those competing, it is a day out for all the family, so bring your kids, partners and parents!
Subs
To date, we have received £1225 in membership fees. There is still £355 outstanding from a few members, whose names will be listed on the board in the boathouse as a reminder.
Thanks to those who have paid on time. We need all monies in as soon as possible in order to pay for the new boat. Please support your club!
If you don't pay, you will not be able to train.
Crew Meeting
Sunday 21st March 1999 in the boathouse after training.
Training
There has been high intensity, good turnouts and lots of enthusiasm. Thanks to all of you for support in this build up year.
Skittles Night
Thanks to everyone who supported the club. It was a great night and we managed to raise £60 towards the club. There was a bit of trouble however, when a few of the crew mistook the Crew Manager's legs for the pins!!
