Sea Breezes On calm, sunny days, the air moving over land is warmed faster than that travelling over the sea. The warmer land air rises and is replaced by the cooler sea air resulting in sea breezes. At night the land is cooled faster than the sea and so a weaker land breeze develops. In the Tropics the temperature difference is more pronounced, so developing sea breezes are stronger and cross further inland.
