Hey, Simon, I think my sister might have that music - I'll go home and have a look for you. Unfortunately, I live in Yorkshire (and go to uni in Nottm.) but I would love to be involved in a production of this calibre. I think the two narrators will work just fine, I seem to remember something similar from sometime ago, and that was a great production, but I'm sure that yours will beat it! I was fortunate to attend school in London and see one of the first Joseph productions. The lead was Gary Bond. I have seen five diffrent productions since. Gary Bond still remains my favorite Joseph even though we have seen two more leads in London. Ironically, I have had the honor of meeting Jason Donovan who could pass as my old college roommate.

I have just seen this show again today, and I love it. It's just that moment when the music first starts, and then your heart starts beating faster and faster, in time with the music. And the tunes go round and round in your head. If you know what I mean - get in touch. I can wait for the video, I'm really looking forward to that one - although you can't beat a live performance, a video is the next best thing for when you can't get to see it. Hey, it's so nice to hear that Tina Arena could be the narrator of the vid! That would be really great! I've never heard her in the role b4(had listened to her albums only!!), so that would be nice! Jenny: I also know all the cast`s names. Me and some friends wemt to see Jospeh twice in HK. And we stayed after and before the shows to taht to the guys. My fav. was Charles and James MacKay. Charles came to Macau after the show was over and me and a friend found him in the street, so we took him sightseeing! IT WAS SUCH FUN!

I don't think that's is very important who will be playing Joseph in the movie. I think for us fans of Joseph that it's about time that there will be a movie. Everybody has it's own favourite, it doesn't matter in which country you live. I will be very happy to see ANY Joseph.

I am really looking forward to being able to share Joseph with my children, via the movie version. I do feel that Donny Osmond will be able to portray Joseph wonderfully. Hey, Jamie and Ginny, I agree that David Osmond was awesome as Joseph, However, Donny has the experience (Much of it due to his age), to pull off such a difficult movie role, besides, Donny may have more trouble pulling off the young Joseph, but David would have the same trouble with the 40 year old Joseph, so what ya gonna do? :) Trust me , it'll be a great movie, Donny can be an awesome actor. ( I saw David in Joseph last Aug. , and he's great, but did you know he's gone to England on a 2 year church mission, so he couldn't do the movie regardless. Just a little info for you.) Take care!

We just wanted to say that "Joseph" is the greatest, and we're just dying for the new movie to be released. However, we are sort of dissapointed that Donny Osmond is going to be Joseph. We do realize that he was one of the greats, but he is getting up there in years. It will be a little ridiculous to see a man double the age Joseph should be, playing the part. We think a great choice would've been David Osmond, his not so famous nephew. We saw him in Atlanta and he was fabulous! His uncle's voice can't compare to his.

Hi Frankie, Just thought I'd give you the info you asked for. Donny is no longer doing Joseph (except for the upcoming movie). He quit after a 6 year run last May. He's now starring in a new daytime show with his sister. Sorry you never were able to see him in it, but at least you can get the video next year. Take Care!

i just want everyone to know that i do not mean to offend anyone when i say sam harris is my favorite. i do realize that donny was a very good joseph. and i think it's sick that people will go so far to support their personal favorite joseph and be so rude to the others. just because sam harris is my favorite, doesnt mean i hate anyone else. i just prefer him over some others. in my opinion there is nothing wrong with that.

Well, I''ve' been reading this site for a few weeks now, and I'm saddened to see such childish messages. I've never commented before, but now I have something to say. My personal favorite is Sam Harris, HOWEVER, I would never criticize anyone else's opinion, Furthermore, I have this to say to those of you who seem to think that Mr Webbers opinion does not count. Even though I am a Sam Harris fan, I have to admit that whatever Mr Webber prefers is important. We have no right to criticize. Remember, HE wrote the play, and only HE knows what he had in mind when he did. Only HE knows exactly which performer captured Joseph exactly as he envisioned it. Apparently Mr. Osmond achieved this, so my hats off to him. What we think really isn't very important at all, we did not write the musical, nor do we know what Mr Webber had in mind for the part. If he feels Donny Osmond performed the role exactly as he wanted it performed, exactly as he envisioned it when he wrote it, then , by all means, he should be in the movie, at the birthday celebration, etc. I would 've loved to have seen Sam Harris do it, but as I said, Mr. Webber's opinion is what really counts. You should all act more mature an realize this. I certainly hope all this childish behavior doesn't continue, If it does, I will no longer be interested in this site.

Just to let everybody who reads this know, I didn't post the other messages that say I was kidding when I said donny is my favorite Joseph. Somebody is obviously a little immature. First off, I would never criticize someone else's favorite, Second, Donny Osmond is one of greatest men I've ever met, and he doesn't deserve to be "hated", (I'm sure you all have never even seen him perform), Third, I'm sure David Dixon is also a nice man, and I'm also sure he would'nt slam Donny Osmond ( or any other Joseph). I've read this page for some time now, but I've never posted. But I wanted to respond to Leah. I've been involved in theater for many years, often with various Joseph productions, so I've seen many "Joseph's" perform, including Sam Harris, Michael Damien, Richard Swerrun, David Dixon, Jason Donovan, and Donny Osmond. I have to say, Donny Osmond definitely captured the essence of the character the best of any I've seen. You mentioned that you wondered why he was on the 50 th birthday celebration for A L Webber, it's because Mr. Webber prefers Mr. Osmond above all. And I can see why, since he brought something to the role that none other had. As for "Botty Burp's" comment, Yikes, how immature. Take care everybody.

Yesterday, 7th of November I saw Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th Birthday celebration on T.V. Iwas really jeallous that Donny Osmond and the choir got to come out on the show. Well I'm not saing that Osmond is bad, but why ? Why is it always him ! I am sure that the other Josephs has all got their special talents because I've beem in the show too, with two Josephs. Darren Day and David Dixon. In my way I think they're both fantastic. Darren has got more... well what sould I say ? Yeah ! He uses his hands more than David to express his feelings while he is singing. But I think I'll say I prefur Darren if you ask me because Darren was more talkful. David was ... well I souldn't say that he wasn't kind to us, it's just that he hardly talked to us. Strange, huh? I agree with you Kaylin. I've actually seen Donny in Joseph, and I do preferred Eric Kunze over Donny. Not to say Donny wasn't good, he was "GREAT", he really did do the part justice. I guess I prefer Eric's performance more because I seen it at Music Circus in Sacramento this summer and I feel that with a smaller crowd (packed house) I got a more personal viewing than the big production I've seen Donny in. Please do respect my opinion as I respect yours. Remember that everyone has their own opinions and opinions are subjective. Sam Harris has a great voice, but I think the reason so many prefer Donny is not just his voice, but due to the fact that the role fit him so perfectly in other ways. Dear Joseph company. I used to be in the Yellow choir of Joseph in 1998 Hong Kong. I really loved the show very much and and I also loved singing and dacing in the show. But they left us and all of us (the choirs ) were very sad. Now that they're in New Zealand, I really wan't to see they're show again. Hi all--- I am the ultimate "Joseph" freak! I have seen 10 different productions of it this year and around 15 total. I can't get enough of this show! I just finished a run of "Joseph" at the Draper Historic Theater in Utah. I played Benjamin and it was aonderful experience. Our director decided to make Benjamin Joseph's favorite little brother and my character and Joseph were really close and so when they throw him in the pit, etc...it was heartbreaking to Benjamin. Let me say, this is a really good idea. it adds a little something to the show that is much needed. It was a very memorable experience for me to play this character. Anyways, I personally think kelli Rabke on the US cast Recording is the absolute best narrator on earth! I haven't seen her live, but her performance on the CD is breath-taking. No one tops her in my opinion. Oh, and I had tickets to see Donny Osmond in the titile role earlier this year when he came to SLC but just my luck, he was too ill to perform the night I was there so I got the understudy. it was very disappointing, so I have yet to see Donny live! Thanx for listening to my jabber!

Hey, anyone who hasn't heard Donny Osmond perform LIVE, does not have a clue what they're missing. I've heard Richard Swerrun, and although he's very talented, Donny Osmond's voice is far more powerful live. I've seen the play a total of 18 times! (over several years). Of all the productions I've seen, I hate to say it to you all, but Donny is the best by far. His acting was also quite exceptional. It's not that I was a "fan" of Mr. Osmond's, but he so impressed me with his talent, that I am now.

Just found this site- great! Hey, Ginny, I agree with you 100% . I too heard that Donny was sick when he recorded the soundtrack, which is why it lacked his usual energy and power. I've seen him do the show twice, and I've also heard others. NO ONE has a more powerful voice live, and his acting was super as well. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents! To all of those who are comparing Donny to other "Josephs" based on the recording, please don't. Although it's a good soundtrack, it did not do justice to what Donny sounds like live. I was slightly disappointed myself that he did not come off as powerful on the recording as he really is. In person, his voice is awesome, 10 times more powerful and emotion filled than the soundtrack. Trust me. Anybody else out there that has seen Donny perform live agree? By the way, he did lack energy on the soundtrack, he was sick all during the recording (but it had to be done by a certain time.) Donn

NO, No, No... Eric Kunze is the ultimate Joseph. He put the "AMAZING" in Joseph and the "AMAZING" Technicolor Dreamcoat. Although I've never seen Donny as Joseph live, I've heard the recording and I'm just not feeling him. To me he lacks energy.

I starred in Joseph with Sam Harris and Kristine Fraelich and Jeffrey Scott Watkins. To be no more than 3 feet away from Sam during "Close Every Door" is absolutely amazing and just incredible. I fell in love with Joseph immediately and can recite every word of the musical. :) My directors, Joanna Seaton, and Donny Sosin are to be commended for their work, and Nick, their son, also! ....The cast was so great and welcoming. Charlie Marcus has to be my favorite. I loved that guy so much. He played Napchole and the Baker, i think it was. But he was just so loving and great! He kicked! In response to the question about not seeing much of Michael Damien on this site, I think you're right, he isn't mentioned much. I have to be honest though, not to sound critical, but his reviews were mostly poor and I don't think he won too many over in the role unfortunately. I have nothing against him, (I hear he's quite good in the soap opera), but I;m just being honest. Hope this doesn't offend anybody, it's not meant to. Tina arena is, the australian opitome of mariah carey, in other words she is a mega pop star. She recenty did a duet with Marc Anthony in the movie "Mask of Zorro" soundtrack called "I want to spend my lifetime loving you". She was hand picked by James Horner of Titanic fame, at least that is what I heard. Plus I heard that she has done the part before, and I think she knows Andrew Lloyd Webber personally. No, Donny hasn't won an award (although he deserved one). No awards were given to anyone in any canadian or american production of "Joseph". The play was just never included in any kind of awards ceremony for whatever reason. However, I guess Donny has received the best award already-being chosen my A.L.Webber as his favorite, being chosen for the movie, winning the poll, breaking ticket sales records, etc. I'd say that's reward enough, wouldn't you?

Sara. Donny may be winning the poll but that's really due to the fact that there are more people in the US and the show is still on going there. If you had seen PHILLIP SCHOFIELD in the role, you'd know why he is on the home page. His London and UK tour performances were stunning (and record-breaking), his voice was incredible and to most people in this country, Phillip IS Joseph (and now Doctor Dolittle, of course) I'm sure Donny is lovely etc. I'm sure Sam Harris, Darren Day, David Dixon et all are also great. But just remember that it's only because Jason and Phillip were so successful in the loincloth initially that you have these scantilly clad 'Joseph's touring the world today.

This is a great site. I'm kind of partial to the show thought because i have been in it two times. Once in the children's choir when the Broadway on tour show came to my town. I was in it at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, California. I've seen Joseph ten times -- Once with Michael Damien, once with Sam Harris, and the rest with Donny and David Osmond and the 2ndG. The Osmonds really made it a family show. I love "Close Every Door" and I would have to say Donny does it best -- followed by Sam. They can really belt it out. 2ndG is still on tour through the end of September when David leaves for his mission. If you can see them -- do so. They put on a great show!!

Hey everyone!!Great page!! I had the pleasure of being in the Joseph childrens choir when the Sam Harris tour began in Baltimore. It was a great experience with a very talented cast. I have all the recordings, a live, and a video and I have seen the show on Broadway. Sam Harris is by far the most outstandng vocalist to ever play Joseph. Even though Donny sounds great, Sam is the tops. I didnt care for Damien(who I saw in New York, at all). Im surprised not many have mentioned the outstanding Kristine Fraelich. Tremedous voice and has a knock out Pahroah Story. Janet has to be my secon fav followed by Linzi then Kelli(saw Donna Kane as Fantine in Les Miz). I hear the Troika tour is great(I managed to get a program and playbill from that) and hope that it comes back to my town. I Just saw Joseph And the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Tuesday night. The one that I saw was Staring David Osmond (not Donny, But David) as Joseph and Jodi Benson (who is the voice of Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid) as the Narrator, plus there was The Osmond 2nd Generation too. It was Great!!!! They ALL sang wonderful. I have never seen again thing like it in my live. I loved Jodi in The Little Mermaid, and it was just great to see her singing in real life. I WONT TO SEE THEM AGAIN!!! I wish they had out a CD. It was also great to hear that they were not just singing in Joseph, but also singing at the Children's Hospital were I live. Plus David is VERY CUTIE.

Well, I just saw the New Zealand production of Joseph in Wellington and I have to say that it was AWESOME!!! I had never seen it before and the cast was so good that I really got into it and the musicians were awesome too. I managed to get a front row seat and the view was the best. All the cast were amazing and it was good to see their expressions from a close seat. I have to say though - not being biased - but Tony le Page who played the coolest character SIMEON is the best. If you ever see this YOU ARE A BABE!!!!!!! I think that I'll keep an eye on any future productions but I'd just like to say good luck to the cast & crew for the rest of the NZ Tour!!!!

My daughter was just in the Winnipeg production of Joseph with the "second generation Osmonds" She was in the Childrens chorus. Naomi, I'm afraid you have a long way to go before you break any records. A friend of mine broke the 100 visits mark when the show was still at the London Palladium in 1993. I think she's seen it over 200 times which makes my 77 visits quite paltry. Some people find it odd seeing a show so often but EVERY visit is different. Then there are cast changes which take a bit of getting used to but it's great to see another person's take on characters you know so well.

Dear Mr. Osmond My mother and I had the wonderful opportunity of seeing you in one of your last preformances of Joseph. What a wonderful experience that was. We would have turn around and sat through another performance had we the time and money. We listen to the tape all the time. Especially on our monthy trips to the St George Temple as we feel it gets us ready for the Temple experince. My six year old has come to love the music as much as we do. I saw the last performance on 21 June. I was very very delighted that I recieved a white "towel" from the Pharaoh. I found all the audiences(included me) were absolutely excited about the outstanding performnce. After the show, some frineds of mine suggested that " why don't we wait for those performancers to come out from the theater?". Actually, we did it and half success. We took the pictures with three choir boys that all wore green T-shirts, and with the Narrator Miss Linzi Hateley. Also, we asked for her signature. She signed her name on my white "Pharaoh's towel". At that time, I was really happy because it was my first time to be so happy.Besides, it was also my first time that I went home so late.However, we were quite disappointed that we couldn't find Joseph came out. When I arrived home, it was 2.00am, but... I couldn't sleep till 4.00am because of my excitement.

I have seen several (6) different versions of Joseph - the Toronto one with Donny Osmond was the best, followed by Sam Harris in Schnectity (SP?) NY. Warren PA local theatre group actually did a super job about 10 years ago with it. Great Story, I recommend you read it in Gen. 39!

I was in the Joseph children's choir in Washington D.C. starring Brian Lane Green. Performing in it was three weeks of heaven and I will never forget anyone from the cast or crew. Those people taught me so much and now I'm really starting to get into acting. If anyone from that cast or crew comes here, thank you so much for teaching me how great life can be.
