Dalmatia Ragusa Franciscan
( A lower/ new) Cloister of the Franciscan Monastery (built 1327-1348 by Mihoje Brajkov). A Franciscan Monastery is situated in the western part of the walled city, close to the Pile Gate (from about 1315 here). A lower cloister is open to public today.
Photo is taken from the middle of the courtyard, towards the church tower/SE direction.
The balustrade of the terrace covering the arched hall surrounding the courtyard was mostly built in 1626. However, its northern branch was added only at the end of the XIX century, just as (probably at the same time) the part of the southern branch of balustrade which replaced the wall seen above the southern side of the corner of the courtyard (at the top of the slide). The tree (lemon or orange) seen at the left side of the photo was removed by 1910, according to some other photos taken from the same standpoint at that time.
