Dalmatia Cannosa Count Gozze
Map 05 - Dubrovnik and surroundings
Trsteno/ Canossa - A famous park/arboretum beside the villa of Counts Gueetie/Gozze.
Viewed from the corner of the villa towards E-SE.
The park was heavily damaged in the recent war in Croatia.
"From the place of the planes one can descend into the lovely gardens of Count Gozze. He is seldom in residence and he is good enough to let people enjoy his lovely place, with its enchanting view of the sea and islands. Here, too, as in the Groves of Blarney, described by Father Prout, you can see
'Venus and Cupid and Nebuchadnezzar
All standing naked in the open air.'
But we shall find at Cannosa groves of palms and cactus, and many another rarity that the Groves of Blarney could not show."
