I'm  A Railwayman
by Henry Lewis

I work for British Rail, I'm a Railwayman,
My father did before me and my grandad, understand,
I stared from the bottom as a signalman at Crewe,
But now I'm on the ladder at the age of thirty two.

We're building a line to the sea,
To run trains with great frequency.

When Beeching got his axe out in 1963,
He chopped so many branches that he almost killed the tree,
But now the age of railway is coming round again,
With the traffic running nose to tail,
You'll have to take the train.

On the CD this song was sung by Mark Flitton.
