PRESENTS SEX FOR THE MASSES A NEW MUSICAL BY HENRY LEWIS "SEX FOR THE MASSES", is a satirical musical about the hypocrisy of the tabloid press and its effect on the individual, the 'little person' caught in the tangled web of sleaze, fighting back against all the odds. It is an adult pantomime in which the sexual confusion of that theatrical genre provides a backdrop to the moral quagmire of tabloid journalism and its thirst for today's story. 'Set 'em up, knock 'em down.' is the winning formula for The News Daily journalist Joanna Locke. Pop prodigy Lizzy Anne starts ascending the golden staircase of success, only to be scythed down by the voracious appetite of a tabloid readership. Bruised, but unbowed, LA determines upon revenge. Her mission directs her to the paper's HQ in Manhattan. The play wrestles with the perennial forces of power, passion, and desire, whilst allowing the ironies of comedy and romance to play in from the wings. Last updated: July 25, 1999.
