New autism project

The Occupational Team, led by John Cahill (above), set up their new autism service in July. They are currently working with three service users in their late teens. Some of the activities that the service users have taken part in are swimming, bowling and visiting a farm. Two of the services users hope to get onto an educational course in the near future, with the longer term goal of entering supported employment.

New staff

Seven new sessional members of staff have joined Hilt this month and we are still looking for more!

Baby news

Two babies have been born to members of Hilt’s staff. Congratulations to Nambi at Seagrove who had a little boy, Adrian, and to Patella, one of our sessional workers, who had a little girl.

Holidays

Colin, Sylvia and Henry from Bethune Road have recently had a holiday together. Hilt staff travelled with them to the holiday scheme but did not stay with them during the holiday. This was the first time that Henry has been on any holiday without staff although Colin and Sylvia have already travelled to Cornwell a number of times. They stayed at a Mencap Hotel where they were given any necessary support by the hotel staff. All three had a very enjoyable holiday together. This can be seen in the pictorial diary they were all given at the end of their time there. Bethune Road service users have also recently had trips to Southend and Fairlop Waters.”
