HILT VOLUNTEERS WIN TOP AWARDS
(pictures by Antony Phillips)
It
was smiles all round for HILT at Hackney Voluntary Action’s
annual awards ceremony on 11th June.
HILT volunteers won two of the main awards.
Rosie Lee (left), who volunteers with HILT’s Occupational
Team, won the Young Gifted and Volunteering Award.
Kyu-June Shim (right) won the Volunteer of the Year Award. Kyu-June
spent six months volunteering at Rotheley House and now volunteers
in HILT’s Outreach Team.
Awards were presented by the Speaker of Hackney, Geoffrey Taylor
and Adrian Pettigrew, a Chelsea football player.
Other
HILT volunteers received runners-up certificates and certificates
recognising their special achievements.
The awards ceremony was a glamorous affair held at Barbican and
sponsored by a city law firm. A jazz pianist played background
music, and there was plenty of great food and drink.
Hackney
Voluntary Action organises this annual event in order to recognise
the achievements of volunteers at the many voluntary organisations
based in Hackney.
HILT would like to congratulate Rosie, Kyu-June and all the other
volunteers and say how proud we all are of them.
