CRACKING
CORNWALL
Kehinde and Joanna, both Outreach Service users, recently had
fantastic week's holiday at Trevanion House, in Wadebridge, Cornwall.
The activities during their action-packed week included visiting
art galleries; a wind-energy centre; strawberry, dairy and cider
farms; Newquay zoo; a china clay museum; the Eden project; local
shops; and of course the beautiful Cornish beaches. They also
went on a number of mystery tours of the coast and a ride on a
steam railway.
To refresh themselves they had
lots of picnics in scenic places and visited many local
pubs, cafes and fish and chip shops. To relax from their packed
schedule they had great fun at the local
bowling alley.
The highlight of Kehinde's holiday was her visit to the old mining
village of Morwellham Quay, where she was able to dress up in
authentic Victorian clothing!
LONDON DISABILITY TODAY EXHIBITION
Hilt will have its own stall at the prestigious Learning Disability
Today exhibition on Wednesday
24
November this year. This dedicated exhibition brings together
more than four thousand leaning disability professionals every
year. The event provides attendees with the opportunity to get
together with peers to learn, share and enjoy the latest developments,
innovations and opportunities in learning disability care. Hilt
will be giving away a Hilt information pack and lollipop to every
visitor to the Hilt stall.

LEADERSHIP STARS

After many hours of hard work and long distance travel to York,
Susan and Sarah have completed their Leadership for Change course.
Susan is Hilt's director and Sarah is the Service Manager with
specific responsibility for training.
INVESTORS
IN PEOPLE
Hilt is proud to announce that it is working towards
gaining the Investors in People Award.
The basic principle of the Award is that an organisation is only
as good as the people who are working in it. It is only through
those people being able to develop their skills and abilities
and being able to work more effectively that success is usually
achieved and with it job satisfaction.
All staff have recently been asked to complete a questionnaire
on a number of important things that affect the way we work together.
The responses will be looked at by the Investors in People adviser,
who will collate the information given and feed back the general
trends that the responses reveal.
NEW
ACCOUNTANT
It was with great sadness that Hilt said farewell to one its longest
serving members of staff, Uche Maidoh, the Finance Manager, at
the end of July. Hilt will be recruiting a new Finance Manager
in the near future; in the meantime the work is being covered
by Samual Browne-Morgan, an accountant on a full-time temporary
contract.
