TAKE
THAT AND PARTY!
HILT
Service users, Simon, Israel and Joseph are fast becoming Hackney's
Karaoke Kings.
The three guys have begun attending weekly karaoke
evenings at their local pub in Hackney. Although new to the Karaoke
circuit, they're giving the local talent a run for their money.
They are joined every week by two volunteers who
help to support them; Cheol Hee Yoon and Taras Lischke.
Cheol
Hee is from South Korea, where Karaoke is very popular. He said:
"in Korea we call it 'The Singing Room'. Everyone takes their
turn and will clap and cheer for all performers. I have found
that the same is true in London. All the people in the pub clap
and sing along when any one of us is on stage. As a foreigner
I find it very encouraging. It helps to build confidence and to
make me feel part of the local community. I think that Israel,
Joseph, Simon and Taras all feel the same way - they definately
seem to enjoy it."
Taras has told us that Joseph's rendition of Peter
Andre's "Mysterious Girl" puts most other other performers
in the shade.
Could this be the start of HILT's first boy-band?
ONWARD
& UPWARD
Congratulations to HILT's Sheilagh Hindmarsh. Sheilagh manages
three HILT projects. She has recently completed her NVQ Level
4 in Health & Social Care Management.
By Sheilagh's own admission it took took a lot of sweat and tears
to get through it. Although she's happy it's over and done with
she is understandably proud of her acheivement.
We're sure that everyone else would like to share Sheilagh's
pride and that other managers currently to take some comfort and
inspiration from it!
