The designer of the Battleground series of games, John Tiller, sent this message to our sister site, the Unofficial Battleground Waterloo Home Page and thanked that site and ours for our work:

Chris,
I don't know if you get much feedback, but I just wanted to thank you, your partner Mark
, and your "sister site" partner Ian, for the time and effort you all have collectively put in to enhancing people's enjoyment and understanding of the Napoleonic Battleground games. I personally very much value and am gratified by the independent efforts of the type that you all have been making since they show a deep appreciation for the game both as entertainment and as their value as what I call "windows into history". I also personally regret the "official" demise of the Battleground series, but hold a personal dream that there can be some future continuation of the concept, with enhancements such as a Scenario Editor and Campaign Game. For example, I would get a kick out of doing a full-blown Waterloo campaign game where you just didn't get a link between PTW and BGW, but also were involved in the making of operational level decisions on the deployment of troops. The Wavre battlefield would have to be included in this of course. It would also be a wonderful accomplishment to be able to implement a full campaign such as the Campaign of 1813 using the Battleground engine to resolve individual battles with an operational level interface on top allowing players to make decisions at that level.
Thanks again for the contribution that you and others have been making. I hope you understand that efforts such as yours are very much valued by some, although you may not get that impression at all times. Please retain the enthusiasm that your web pages show, it's gratifying to me to see that others share the enthusiasm I naturally have for these games.
