Story 2

I have been flying a campaign in Azerbaijan, in about 14 or so missions, and chose an escort mission for a SF team to raid a enemy C&C bunker. It was pretty much routine until about 3 Klicks out we ran into some BMPs, so we loitered a bit and took them out. My wing and I drifted toward the LZ and were immediately engaged by Z23s, exciting but still nothing to out of the ordinary (for LB2 anyway). The LZ was a full klick away from the bunkers and they were probably the heaviest defended targets I've seen yet.

They must have called for air support because 2 Cobras showed up, and a brief fight took place, then we took out all the AAA and trucks and soldiers that were left and remained on station while the SF guys went in, they still had a fire fight getting into the bunkers but it was very quick. (This was all very entertaining to watch on the FLIR btw). They got what they were looking for and started egressing toward the Blackhawk, which by this time seemed like it took forever. Was watching as all 3 bunkers blew up in unison, pretty cool, Then I heard artillery coming in, spun around and had 2 more BMPs sneaking up our 6 while I was busy dorking around playing tourist, we managed to kill them before they got the BH (wingman's smokin by now). Then we had a pass by a SU25 (thank god it wasn't a Mig). The SF loaded and we RTB'd and everyone lived to tell about it. : )

This mission was pretty intense from the time I got to the target until we crossed the friendly line.

But the best part was when it was over a video popped up of a press conference and detailed what we just did, outstanding. What a great reward for a tough mission. I heard about scripted missions in this, but never heard of anyone doing one, maybe I just missed it somewhere, anyway this was a very cool touch. sure wish we had a recorder....
