About Ian Alexander

I am a Systems Engineer specialising in Requirements Engineering.
I am a Chartered Engineer and an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow of City University. My work includes:
- Requirements Engineering Consultancy
for organisations using systems and software of all kinds. This includes eliciting, writing,
and managing requirements, preparing and running workshops and reviews,
working on business processes, and conducting process audits.
- Preparing and delivering Workshops,
Seminars, and Training Courses
in Requirements and Systems Engineering to many organisations. I am a qualified instructor for the
Atlantic Systems Guild's
3-Day Mastering the Requirements Process, for
JBA's
Systems Engineering course and Requirements Engineering workshop, and for
Telelogic's
Requirements Engineering, DOORS, & DXL courses.
- Requirements research on practical topics including stakeholder analysis, negative scenarios,
requirements reuse, prioritisation and industrial practice, with results published in
peer-reviewed & published articles.
- Service to the Engineering community, organising public events and
training courses for
- Presenting seminars and workshops at universities and colleges including
Imperial College, the Open University, City University, the University of Westminster,
and Lancaster University.
- Writing books on
requirements.
