Batiks

Batik is a technique of dyeing after weaving, using a mixture of wax and resins to resist the dye. The wax may be applied by hand with a spout ( Tjanting ), or printed on using a soldered copper block (Tjap), or using both techniques. The wax may be made to crack (e.g. the Coffee Bean motif) or may remain flexible. Cheap imitations are made by screen-printing without use of a wax resist.

Other weaving traditions can be seen in Ikats and Weavings.
