This detail of carved decoration is on a panel beside the door of a wooden church in the Village Museum, Bucharest, Romania. The figure is interesting as it seems to be made of fruits or grains, and resembles a female form. It is perhaps therefore a figure of fertility; compare the Romanian Cheese-Press (see side image) or the Turkish Elibelinde (hands-on-hips) motifs.
