Memoirs of James Begg, D.D., available online

We have made available the Memoirs of James Begg, D.D., on our website. The prefaces and chapters of the two volumes, published in 1885 and 1888, have been made into separate webpages — the first of which can be found here. There is also a link to the the Memoirs on our " Other Resources of the Society " page.

Traditional Text Pamphlets

We invite you to visit our sister website, Traditional Text Pamphlets.

From the TTP homepage :

"HERE are some articles whose purpose is to promote and to defend the Traditional Text group of Greek New Testament manuscripts (also known as the Recieved Text or Majority Text), as opposed to the Critical Text.

"Some of these articles were originally published as pamphlets. All of these articles have appeared in the magazine of the James Begg Society, the Presbyterian Standard."

We hope to add new articles to the TTP website in the future.

These introductions can be found following the "Further information" links in our online Publications Catalogue.

We are able to distribute copies of the new and attractive edition of the Psalter produced by the Trinitarian Bible Society. Donations to the Society may be specified as for this Fund.

Enquiries from those interested are welcomed — please contact us.

About the James Begg Society

The Rev. James Begg D.D. was a leading figure in the Church of Scotland in the early 19th Century, and from the foundation of the Free Church of Scotland in 1843. He was a strong opponent of Roman Catholicism, Moderatism (also called Liberal Theology) and innovations that polluted the purity of Christian worship.

The James Begg Society, formed in 1995, is committed to the same Reformed Christian religion as Dr Begg — as formulated in the Westminister Standards.

The aim of the Society is to advance the Reformed Christian religion through publishing, and thereby to encourage Biblical unity of doctrine, worship and practice among Chritians. We seek to re-publish the works of notable 16th-19th Century Scottish presbyterians and of modern authors of like faith from around the world.
