A novel use for XTree is to monitor the state of a network. On your network, run XTree Gold (in a DOS box if you are in Windows) and log a disk drive on a remote machine.
How long does this take? If it logs in quickly, the network is in good shape. If logging takes a long time, it shows that the network is overloaded.
