ZOBIAN TREATY ERA The era of change within Setnin, as her leaders attempt
to bring stability to the region.
Eager to appear reasonable and conciliatory, Setnin’s politicians
agree to assist the Zobians, pirates and rogues, much to the chagrin of the
populace... Sixteen years after Battle of Yavin ZOBIAN PLEA FOR ASSISTANCE -
Zobian Pirates arrive
at Euphoria Station. They are desperate for help - the failed attempt on the
invasion of the Setnin Sector with Glann Cipple has depleted their resources,
losing them ships and manpower. Their powerbase is collapsing and they can
barely hold onto the six planets and colonies under their control. Unable to
feed or oversee their subjects they are willing to decommission much of their
fleet in trade for money and supplies to save their race. -
Luschia Arkensaw and
the Trade Guilds of Chancai meet with Zobian Commander Sullia to negotiate a
deal. However, there is consternation aboard the station when it is
discovered that there are Zobians on Euphoria. The citizens don’t want peace,
they want to take this opportunity and be rid of the Zobian’s forever.
Luschia disagrees and quells riots before they take place. -
The Euphoria Station attempts its first
hyperspace journey with it’s new jump engines. -
After a short negotiation
Commander Sullia makes an admission - he is at this meeting with the Zobian
War Council’s permission but even they do not believe it is a good idea. If
he doesn’t return with good news for them they will launch an all-out attack
on the Setnin Sector in a desperate bid to take territory and increase their
chances of survival. -
Luschia Arkensaw
informs General Tyrrah, the New Republic's representative on the station,
about the Zobian situation. Tyrahh tells Arkensaw that they stand ready to
assist if the Zobian's attempt an invasion. -
The Euphoria Station
drops out of hyperspace during the crisis meeting - the engines having been
sabotaged by Elees, Luschia’s head of trade and an old friend. Elees informs
the citizens of Euphoria Station of the Zobian’s attempt at peace making,
with the intention of starting dissent. -
Elees’ plan misfires.
The station drops out of its jump near a black hole and it takes all of the
stations thruster power to stop it from being sucked in. Meteors and
asteroids fly past, being sucked into the singularity. A huge asteroid is
heading straight for the station, big enough to destroy it. -
After much careful work
a plan is attempted - the Zobian's agree to supply their warship, after they
have called it from the stations starting point, packed full of explosives
and energy cells and ram it into the asteroid and deflect it’s path. The
station supply the explosives and the New Republic escort the ship through
the asteroid shower, shooting any smaller rocks out of it’s way so that it
can make it’s target. However, the warship can only be detonated by a living
being on the flight deck, a security safeguard installed by the Zobian's to
stop sabotage on their vessels. -
Melm convinces Luschia and the others that he should
fly the ship, telling them that he has Evitarr Syndrome and hasn’t long to
live. Luschia sadly agrees. MELM DIES SAVING EUPHORIA STATION -
Melm takes the Zobian
vessel and rams it into the asteroid, destroying the ship and saving the
Euphoria Station. -
Luschia discovers that
Melm didn’t have Evitarr Syndrome at all - he lied so that he could save the
station and make up for all his past indiscretions whilst working for Glann
Cipple. From then on, the day Melm saved the station was declared a public
holiday and known as Redemption Day, a day of celebration and gift giving. -
After learning that the
thrusters won’t hold out much longer and the station could fall into the
hole, everyone is amazed when four Zobian warships arrive and tow the station
out of harm’s way. The Zobian's, although unsure about the idea, saved them
in an attempt to show the New Republic and the Setnin sector their good
intentions. -
Everyone is saved and
returns home. The Setnin Sector, New Republic and the Zobian's, after finding
out that they can work together and solve their differences sign an
Inter-Sector Peace Treaty. The
Zobian’s agree to dismantle their fleet and the Setnin Sector agrees to help
the Zobian's financially. -
The New Republic
oversees the proceedings and despatch ships to patrol Zobian space. -
Luschia Arkensaw,
overwhelmed by the political situation and upset over Melm’s death, leaves
the station to travel the sector for a while and spend some time alone. MASS DISSENTION THROUGH THE SETNIN SECTOR -
Riots break out all
over the Setnin Sector as people learn about the treaty. Many believe that
helping the Zobians will allow them to re-build their empire and start war
again. Many planets threaten to split from the Sector guilds and go
independent. Several planets,
including Janos, threaten war and others close their borders. -
Luschia Arkensaw returns to Amagad
as the riots continue through the sector. Landing on what’s left of Amagad
City she meets with Bessa Cipple, who reclaimed her father’s land seven years
before and has rebuilt a settlement now that the eco-system of Amagad is
slowly returning to normal. Luschia plans to dig down into what’s left of
Glann’s vaults but Bessa informs her that if she wants to do that then she
has to buy the land from her. -
Luschia agrees to give Bessa the
data core of Glann’s old operation computer, which unbeknownst to Bessa she
stole on a previous excavation, in return for the land. Bessa agrees. -
A starship crashes in the Amagadian
Mountains and Luschia sets out to find survivors. Two survive the crash and attempt to end Luschia’s life,
apparently sanctioned by a Chancai Trade Guild member and a Zobian fleet
commander whose bodies lay in the wrecked ship. -
It’s discovered that the two
assailants were planted to make people believe they were trying to destroy
the peace process. Luschia despatches the would-be assassins. -
The false plot is made public and helps speed up the peace process. -
Luschia Arkensaw continues with her
plan and digs down into the vaults, but there is nothing left of them.
Dejected and angry, she digs further out and finds an old power station, a
long underwater pipe going out to sea and over a geo-thermal that supplies
heat and energy to the generator, which converts it into power. -
Luschia Arkensaw discovers a
monitoring station, built there when the palace was originally taken by Glann
Cipple and manned by someone who eavesdropped into his business. Since the
end of Amagad and the Heed crash the base had been abandoned, but there is no
information as to who the mystery observer is. - Queed seeks out Luschia, informing her that he regrets she had to find the base. His employer, who ran the monitoring station, would like to meet her. He informs her his employer is powerful and dangerous but could make her lots of money. She has gotten too close to him and is offered a simple ultimatum - join him or die. She refuses her father and tells him that no one is untouchable. |
