All string arrangements (the section comprising of 12 piece strings, 3 woodwind, 3 brass) are written by Robert Kirby - responsible for nearly all of Nick Drake's arrangements on his first 2 albums. Paul says of working with Robert: "Robert was brilliant and really understood that I was after something really special. We spent a long time over getting the arrangements right."

Paul says of the recording of the album: "The actual recording of the tracks was real quick. We only spent 4-5 days at a time and got as much done as possible in those short spaces of time. All the tracks are live performances".

Paul Weller announces his first UK tour in two years. Following the release of the dates on Friday 28 January, the first London show sold out within hours, a second was added, selling out that same afternoon.
