The East Kent Telecentre |
|
What is a Telecentre?A Telecentre is a local centre, usually located in a rural environment, which provides low-cost access to modern high-tech office services. The East Kent Telecentre is one of many across Britain, and is a founder member of The Telecottage Association. As well as offering services at a distance to remote employers it can offer similar low cost services to local businesses and entrepreneurs. An increasing number of employees and self-employed people are working from home - the working pattern of the nation, and indeed the world, is changing rapidly. However, even with the most up-to-date computers in their home, teleworkers find themselves with clients who need specific software or facilities beyond those installed on their system. Individuals working from home can find themselves feeling isolated and in need of a business community with which to associate themselves. The East Kent Telecentre can offer a wide range of software and computer-based hardware (eg scanners, videoconferencing facilities, colour printers) for use by individuals visiting the Centre. |
