There are three classes of rights associated with the software on these pages.

The first applies to the DOS utilities FIR.EXE and STEPTONE.EXE
These programs are free. You may copy them, distribute them, and modify them at will EXCEPT for use in commercial software. They are presented as is with source code and are unsupported (though it never hurts to ask, particularly if you have purchased any of my other software).

Second, Shareware. Currently there is just one shareware program on my page: FILTER.EXE
This method allows you to try the software before buying it. If you like what you see, or use it regularly, then I'd appreciate a payment of US$25 or UK£15. (any other currencies cost too much to exchange). In return for that, you will receive a printed user manual and a copy of the code without annoying shareware message boxes, and with extra functionality in the types of files it can filter.

Lastly, Licensed software. The DLL which is available for download here is an unregistered copy, designed for developers to test their products and see if it is suitable for distribution with their product. This version is available for download for anyone, but should not be distributed as part of a software product, either as freeware, shareware, or any other method.
If you (as a developer) wish, you can purchase a distribution version and distribution license from me for a one time fee. You may then distribute with your product (but any other distribution is forbidden).
The demonstration software which is downloaded at the same time as the DLL is for illustrative purposes only. It must not be distributed.
