GOODBYE - ALBUM, SEPTEMBER 1997
NO MORE TALK - SINGLE, JULY 1997

"There was no question of making another Disgraceful. There was no question of pandering to what is supposedly fashinoable in 1997. There was only one consideration going into this record - to make a brilliant album"
Steve Hillier, May 1997

These are lean times for anyone chasing the pure pop high. Take your choices: in one corner, a clique of wizened old duffers in partkas and their cowardly reversal into the values ofreal instruments. Maan. As if music was ecver supposed to be like joining the Guild of Master Craftsmen. And then, in the other corner, the contrived disigenuity of those who equate pop literacy with having a favourite Spice Girl. 'Cliches..' the great Spike Milligan once said, 'are the handrail of a crippled mind.'

And it's on the back of this typically noble sentiment, that Dubstar re-enter the firmament with a brand new album, 'Goodbye', released on Food Records on September 15 1997. The album will be preceded by Dubstar's first single for 12 months, 'No More Talk', (which is currently Mark Radcliffe's Record of the Week on Radio 1) released on July 7.

'Goodbye' was largely written at the end of 1996 at the band's own studio in Newcastle. These songs were produced by Stepehn Hague at his studio at Woodstock, New York and finished in Bath and London in the Spring of 1997.

Featuring 15 self penned tracks 'Goodbye' takes the character and themes of debut album 'Disgraceful' to a new level. Featuring more varied, and largely acoustic, instrumentation, 'Goodbye' shows us that Dubstar were never about being a synth pop trio or studio perfectionists. Lyrically, 'Goodbye' thrills us in the way we were thrilled by the first appearance of The Smiths and the Pet Shop Boys.

Following their triumphant headline shows at T in the Park and Reading last year, Dubstar take to the main stage at Glastonbury on Saturday June 28th. This is followed in the autumn with a 23 date UK tour in October and November.

'Goodbye' tracklisting:
I Will Be Your Girlfriend/ Inside/ No More Talk/ Polestar/ Say The Worst Thing First/ Cathedral Parl/ It's Over/ The View From Here/ My Start In Wallsend/ It's Clear/ Ghost/ Can't Tell Me/ Wearchest/ When You Say Goodbye/ Let's Go

For the record Disgraceful has now sold 150,000 copies in the UK.
