latest Dubstar news

I was lucky enough to meet Dubstar at the opening of the new HMV in Newcastle, where they spent a good hour signing autographs... they must be saints!
Steve Hillier kindly offered to mail me answers to a few questions I thought might be of interest to you dubbies out there. Here's what he said...

The new album is entirely written now. With economic considerations, it is almost certainly going to be out very early next year rather than this year. Musically, I would describe it as a development from DISGRACEFUL rather than a departure. Certainly it is more dynamic, with two song titles being CAN'T TELL ME and BROWNMOUTH, with an as yet untitled reply to JUST A GIRL, and another song in the ANYWHERE/ANYWAY series. There will definitely be another single this year (hopefully with 2 CD's worth of B-sides this time). Sarah has been approached to collaborate with WILLIAM ORBIT, and I have remixed 2 WIGGY by Belgian band HOOVER. Chris, Paul (our drummer) and I performed with BILLY BRAGG in Bournemouth last week, which was an ambition fulfilled and he will be joining us on stage at the READING FESTIVAL on Saturday.

With regard to the USA, we are currently in negotiations for an American deal, with the possibility of a different version of DISGRACEFUL as the first release. NOT SO MANIC NOW was earmarked as the first single released when I last had some news, hopefully with American only B-sides.

Anyone who wants direct info should mail me. For anybody who cannot e-mail, we will be setting up our own info service soon, although it is not likely to be available until after September at the earliest. Merchandise will also be available soon by mail order.
