I (Friday Night)
the new single, march 2000

DUBSTAR's new single, I (Friday Night) will be released in the UK on 1st May.

This is Steve Hillier's latest message to the Disgraceful mailing list:

Hi everyone.

I have received literally hundreds of e-mails in the last month, almost all of them demanding to now what's going on with Dubstar.

So, after a huge delay here is the news, all 100 percent accurate and from the horses mouth. Unfortunately for all of you who live outside of the UK, everything is happening in the UK at the moment. However, this will change very soon, as I am dying to get back out to the US and mainland Europe (especially to Scandinavia, you know who you are........!).

--------------------------------------------------------------

The new single is called "I (Friday night)", and will be released on May 1st on Food records/Parlophone. Radio 1 is playing it already (Mark and Lard and Chris Moyles have taken quite a shine to it), and it will hopefully be all over the airwaves from next month.

The single comes in three formats:

CD1 includes two exclusive songs that will not be on the forthcoming album "Make It Better". As is so often the case, these were written and recorded well after the completion of the album. They are called:

"I Lost a Friend" and "Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton"

Not wanting to sound overly proud, they are two of my favourite songs that I've written. I hope you like them just as much.

CD2 includes remixes by DJ Jurgen (the man responsible for Alice Deejay, amongst many others), and Agent Sumo who are a fantastic Big Beat outfit from West London.

The cassette features a mix from my good self.

So, what else is going on? Well, contrary to previous reports, we will be playing live again soon. I'm afraid I can't say exactly when at this stage, but I suspect it will be in the summer or early autumn. What I can tell you is that it will be a completely different show to the one we took around the world back in the nineties. In fact, we debuted a stripped down version of it last Friday at a show in Stratford upon Avon, and it seems to work very well!

Coming soon: We have a series of collaborations with other artists which will be released as B-sides to a single sometime in the future. This has been a fascinating experience for me and the rest of the band and has resulted in the some of the best Dubstar tracks so far. Expect more news in the summer.

And, http://www.dubstar.com will be up and in May. I won't give too much away now, but one thing I can confirm is that it will include exclusive downloadable MP3 files for you to collect and keep. Bookmark it now!

----------------------------------------------------

May I just give out a big thankyou to every body who has e-mailed me with messages of support over the three years that Dubstar has been away. "Make It Better" is completed and I can't wait to know what you all think of the new songs.

Cheers

STEVE HILLIER
