*Information and Background*	This is but a first attempt, and I am expecting to take some years in completing this work. I felt that if I didn't start now, then I never would - and with that I ask you to be understanding, and to visit again if you find any interest in what I am doing. You will find here the first part of the backbone of the site, some pages are complete, others will rapidly follow - but each link should, at least, show something. Some pages play MIDI files of suitable lute music. This happens automatically - so please let me know if that annoys you. These files have been generated by my own program, which interprets the original lute tablature. (Comments would be welcome). I see no point in writing what others have expressed so much better, and so it will be necessary to incorporate a fair volume of background material, and texts - most of which may not be otherwise available to the reader. All sources will be attributed to the best of my knowledge.
