NOMOS - Set You Free (Grapevine Records GRACD 230)
Well, they say that a rolling stone gathers no mos and the speed at which these musicians perform it's no surprise. The nimble fingers in particular of concertina virtuoso Niall Vallely are the highlight on an album that is scattered with gems. The - at times - understated bodhran of Frank Torpey helps to underpin the rhythm more soulfully than any drummer could and in John Spillane, the band have an excellent songwriter. My only reservation is in the length of the album coming in at only 39:52 mins. More next time please.
