This page has been added to the website in the hope that members who have an interest in astronomy will submit some of their own observations.

To start things off their follows a short report of the 'typical preparations' carried out by members using the 6" Cooke refractor at Airdrie Public Observatory.

Normally the Cooke is only used when their are at least three members present, although in can be used by two people. We do not feel that it is practical for the Cooke to be used by a single person. Indeed, it is not possible anyway as the library insists that there should always be a minimum of two people present for safety reasons!

George McCue overseeing another ASTRA members, Diane Gough, setting up the 6" Cooke ready for an observation session.

Below are a few photo's of moon, which had been 'snapped' during a couple of sessions with the Cooke refractor. We are very much in the early days of photography with the Cooke and will hopefully get some better results with more experience and hopefully some better equipment.

Can you spot the intentional mistakes?

Any member hwo feels they would like to contribute their own reports of observations please get in contact.
