Jan.17. Prof. Mike Russell, 'The Origins of Life'.

Feb.7. Gordon Dick (now known as Gordon Ross) lecture on Waverider at Glasgow School of Art.

Feb.28. Visit to Glasgow University Observatory.

Mar.21. Party at 16 Oakfield Ave. marking Duncan Lunan's 30 years in ASTRA. Attended by Oscar and Andy Nimmo, who were both at Prof. Nonweiler's lecture in March '62; with apologies from Archie Roy and Ed Buckley, both of whom were also there that night, but this time were both travelling the day after the party.

April. Ayrshire meetings suspended for lack of support. Airdrie meetings move from the Public Library to the Airdrie Arts Centre, Anderson Street.

Apr.12. Yuri Gagarin commemoration at Cottier's Theatre cancelled because the bar wasn't licensed in time.

May 15. Dr. Ian Griffin, Director, Armagh Planetarium, 'CCD's and a Planetarium', postponed from Mar.13 when he couldn't come because of a security alert in Northern Ireland; followed May 16 by Annual Dinner at the Bon Accord, North St., Glasgow.

May 23. AGM hosted by Duncan Lunan at 16 Oakfield Ave., Hillhead. Chris O'Kane stands down from Council. Merger with Space Settlers Society approved, ending the separation begun with the breakaway of the first London branch in the 1970's.

June 13. Airdrie Public Observatory Open Day with Braithwaite Telescopes display.

June 20. Space Settlers' AGM concludes merger with ASTRA. Settlers' Honorary Members Ben Bova, George Robertson MP, David Atkinson MP, George Hay and Dr. Graeme Duncan become Honorary Members of ASTRA.

July 17-20. Apollo anniversary exhibition at Contagion Star Trek convention, Central Hotel. The Convention had unexpectedly obtained a substantial amount of material from NASA, ESA and McDonnell Douglas, which we integrated with our exhibition panels and they donated to us afterwards. The exhibition was visited by Guest of Honour George Takei (Lieut. Sulu).

Aug.31. ASTRA team (mostly Airdrie branch) mounts rocketry day at Armagh Planetarium with extensive programme of aquajet flying, rocket workshops and pyrotechnic rocket demonstrations.

Sept.10. ASTRA car float and pub can collection for Crossroads charity, organised by Andy Nimmo.

Sept.11. Alex Ellery, Chairman, UKSEDS, 'von Neumann Probes for Planetary Exploration', Airdrie, postponed from June 20.

Sept.23. Duncan Lunan Waverider lecture, Astronomical Society of Belfast, Ashby College, sponsored by Armagh Planetarium. Biggest bomb in the history of the Troubles explodes shortly after discussion of sonic booms.

Oct.2. ASTRA team provides manpower for British Industry in Space International Space Year lecture in Edinburgh.

Oct.4. Sputnik commemoration night at Cottier's, with readings by Archie Roy & Alasdair Gray, with music including Jasper the Singing Dog commemorating Laika in Sputnik 2.

Oct.9. Mary Dawson, 'Microgravity & Space Biology', Airdrie.

Oct.16. Visit to new Braithwaite Telescopes workshop, Dalserf.

Nov.2 - Dec.5. Urban Spacemen exhibition at an Lanntair gallery, Stornoway, with Waverider model and Braithwaite Telescopes display, which had to be removed because of rough handling by children.

Dec.4. Charmian Leaver, 'British Industry in Space Year 92' at Airdrie.

Dec.12. ASTRA stand and Duncan Lunan Waverider lecture at National Astronomy & Space Show, Town Hall, Walsall; meeting with Mikhail Lisun & Olga Anisimova of Sergei Korolev Museum (see 1994).

Dec.18. Anniversary Dinner at Tudor Hotel, Airdrie, organised by Sheena Macintosh.
