Mar.21. Andrew Lound, Planetary Society UK Organiser, 'Exploration of the Solar System', Airdrie.

May 30. Dr. Bonnie Steves, Caledonian University, 'Celestial Mechanics', at Airdrie; followed by Duncan Lunan lecture at Caledonian University, Oct.16.

June 13. Dr. Allan Chapman, University of Oxford, 'James Nasmyth', Airdrie.

June 15. 'Heresies in Archaeoastronomy - 2' conference, moved from Ramshorn Theatre to GCVS; speakers including Matt Ewart, Tony Crerar, John Braithwaite, Duncan Lunan, Chris O'Kane.

June 21. AGM, GCVS. Iain Girdwood stands down from Council.

June 23, 24, 26. NASA conducts first three radio-controlled Waverider powered free-flights using the LO-FLYTE vehicle.

Aug. Duncan Lunan stands down as ASTRA President, becoming Treasurer in place of Roddy Chisholm; Andy Nimmo stands down as Secretary, replaced by Dave Allen. At the end of August Duncan Lunan stands down as Assistant Curator of Airdrie Public Observatory, replaced by Danny Kane.

Sept.21. North Lanarkshire Council 'Doors Open Day' including Airdrie Public Observatory; repeated Oct.4. Text agreed for colour leaflet promoting the Observatory.

Sept.26. First of extended series of slide talks by Duncan Lunan, Airdrie, with new integration of ASTRA's slides and my own.

Oct.3. Death of George Hay, Honorary Member. Gerry Carter, host of London branch meetings in the mid-79's, died in the same week.

Dec.12. Anniversary Dinner, Airdrie Arts Centre
