Mar.20-21. Major Jay Tate, 'Spaceguard', at Airdrie and at Central Hotel, Glasgow. ASTRA affiliated to Spaceguard UK organisation.

Mar.28. Chris Boyce, 'The Evolution of ET', first of a series of GCVS discussion meetings on a follow-up book to "Extraterrestrial Encounter" (see 1979).

Apr.18. Ann Steel and Paul Clark co-opted to ASTRA Council.

June 6, Sept.6., Oct.8. Airdrie Public Observatory Open Days.

June 9. Death of Roddy Chisholm, former Treasurer.

June 13. AGM followed by Annual Dinner, both hosted by the Taj Mahal restaurant, Sauchiehall St., Glasgow. Dave Allen deemed to have resigned as Secretary, Willie Fleming resigns from Council, Ann Steel, Paul Clark (new joint Secretaries) ratified and Ivan Dale elected.

Summer. Death of Ian Downie announced.

Summer. Original 3" Airdrie telescope mount restored and set on display plinth by Danny Kane. The object-glass of the 3", which had been stolen some years before, was returned anonymously in the Autumn.

Oct.24. Planning meeting, GCVS; Diane Gough co-opted to ASTRA Council.

Nov.1. Glasgow members attend Andy Paterson space art exhibition opening, Harbour Arts Centre, Irvine.

Dec.18. 45/35/20 Anniversary Dinner in Airdrie (Airdrie Arts Centre).

Dec.19. 45th anniversary of founding of society, 35th anniversary of independence as ASTRA, commemorative meeting at GCVS.
