Jan.31. New series of discussions on "Man and the Stars" sequel.

Apr.12. Chris O'Kane (not yet ASTRA member) at maiden launch of the Space Shuttle (see Spacereport, April 1987).

Apr.18. Dr. Robin Green, G.U. Astronomy Dept., 'Time'.

Apr.21-25. National Astronomy Week. Three ASTRA exhibitions, at Irvine Library (organised by Richard McKelvie), Airdrie Library, and Hamilton College of Education (The High Frontier). After helping to mount the last-named, John Bonsor suggested showing it at Largs Library later in the year. ASTRA also offered High Frontier publications to members of the

Federation of Astronomical Societies, and held various lectures, including (Apr.25) Dr. A.S. Thom, 'The Geometry & Astronomy of Megalithic Man', Airdrie Library, followed by Annual Dinner at the Loon Fung Restaurant in Sauchiehall St., Glasgow.

May 2. AGM. Gavin Roberts had left the ASTRA Council and been replaced by Robert Law, whose position was ratified.

June 6. Lectures by Ian Downie, Paul Benson, Robert Law, J. Maguire at Open Day, Airdrie Observatory, during Monklands Festival.

June 19. Ian Downie begins extended re-run of 'Cosmos' on video at Airdrie. Attendance falls away.

July 4. Visit to Hunterston B nuclear power station, Largs, Ayrshire.

July 18. Apollo anniversary lecture, 'Unrealised Possibilities - Especially Lunar Ones!', by Paul Barnett.

Aug.22 - Oct.9. High Frontier exhibition at Largs Library, organised by John Bonsor, opened by Viscount Kelburn, later Lord Glasgow; including for the first time Waverider model built on the Parks Astronomy Project by the late Bill Braithwaite, finished by John. This was to lead to the formation of the Ayrshire Branch and the Waverider Aerodynamic Study Programme.

Aug.25. Kit Weinrichter represents ASTRA at JPL during Voyager 2 Saturn flyby. Photos rushed to us for High Frontier exhibition at Largs. Kit's report published in Jan. 82 Spacereport.

Aug.31. Oscar at Spacelab medical conference, University of Stirling.

Sept.12. 'Black Holes and the Possibility of Space Travel', by visiting US member John Fadum. (Printed in Sept. 81 Spacereport).

Oct.3. Joint amateur rocketry meeting with the Paisley Rocketeers at Pencil Monument in Largs. The Paisley Rocketeers are an amateur rocket society founded by John Stewart in Paisley in the 1930's.

- John Boyes, 'Soyuz - Was It Russia's Lunar Spacecraft?' at High Frontier, Largs.

Oct.3-9. National Children's Book Week, lectures by Duncan Lunan and Chris Boyce at High Frontier, Largs.

Oct.24. United Nations Day Lecture, 'The UN and Space', by Bill Ramsay.

Dec.3. First meeting of new Ayrshire branch. Discussion meeting on 'Space Elevators' for "Man and the Planets" (last meeting of discussion project before going to press). Ayrshire branch committee appointed: John Bonsor, Gordon Dick (now known as Gordon Ross), Ron Williams, Richard McKelvie, Jean Tycholiz (formerly Jean Coles).
