In the same week that we learned of David's death, we were informed from the USA by Sheila Prosterman of Steven's death in a fall in New Orleans. Steven, his wife Sheila and Micky had made contact with ASTRA through our presentations of the spaceflight programmes at Albacons, and they attended the 1987 Rocket Weekend in Largs. By then Micky had been a member for several years, but at Albacon 88 Steven decided it was time to enrol himself, Sheila, and Ivana Marinkovic from Croatia who was attending the convention with them. He will long be remembered for his late-night action at that year's Dead Dog party, when the hotel staff refused further service to Convention members and Steven demanded, and got, drinks for everybody left on his credit card.

When Steven died, he and Sheila were giving serious thought to settling in Scotland for Micky's secondary education, and he and I were discussing the creation of a Scottish science fiction and fact magazine for the first time since the 1950's. His family requested donations to ASTRA rather than floral tributes; we spent the money on our Apollo 11 commemorative exhibition at Princes Square, Glasgow, dedicated to Steven, where by chance a New Orleans band was playing on the Sunday afternoon and I had them dedicate a number to Steven. In October that year I dedicated "Starfield, science fiction by Scottish writers", which I edited for Orkney Press, 'To Steven Prosterman, who wanted to encourage Scottish writers'.
