The Association in Scotland To Research into Astronautics, (ASTRA), was founded by Oscar Schwiglhofer, who is now an Honorary Member.

ASTRA is managed by a Council of Members elected in three-year rotation at Annual or Emergency General Meetings. There is no upper number of Council members but the minimum is six council members (five in cases of emergencies).

Most ASTRA activities are run by Committees, and two Past Presidents are particularly active: Oscar Schwiglhofer, our founder and Senior Curator of Airdrie Public Observatory, and Gordon Ross (active member), head of the Waverider project.

The committee structure is highly flexible but the main divisions are:

Airdrie Branch

Astronomy

Exhibitions

Publications

Rocketry

Space Settlers

Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

Waverider
