A number of the Airdrie branch members are keen rocketeers. The Airdrie Branch Rocketry Team actively encourage interest in rocketry holding regular rocket workshops at Drumpellier Country Park. These workshops are primarily to introduce children to building safe rockets. Aquajets are used at these workshops as they allow children to build a rocket under supervision quickly and safely. They then have the opportunity to fly their rocket during the flying sessions after the workshops. Although these workshops are aimed at children, adults interested in attending any of these workshops are most welcome.

Further details can be obtained from the Airdrie Program or by contacting the branch directly. The Airdrie Branch Rocketry Team also regularly attend the International Rocketry Weekends. These weekends are usually held at Kilburn Country Park, near Largs, to coincide with the English August Bank Holiday. The weekend includes a number of different events over four days. The Airdrie Branch Rocketry Team normally enter the 'Open Aquajet Competition'. Below are a few 'snap shots' of Oscar Schwiglhofer awarding the 'Schwiglhofer Trophy' which is awarded to the Aquajet Team who win the Aquajet Competition.

The award was made by John Bonsor. |
