Activities undertaken by the members of the Airdrie Branch include:

Amateur Astronomy: the Airdrie branch regularly hold astronomy sessions using the Airdrie Public Observatory, which houses a 6 inch Cooke refracting telescope. ASTRA operates this one of only four public observatories in the Uk on behalf of the district council. The Airdrie branch has a keen group of local members interested in operating the observatory.

Amateur Rocketry: ASTRA has had a long standing interest in amateur rocketry. Currently the Airdrie branch members maintain the society's interest in this area, with rocket building workshops being held locally and a presence of an Airdrie branch team at the International Rocket Weekend, which is held every August in Largs, (Scotland).

Airdrie Program

The Airdrie Branch attempts to hold regular talks on a wide range of interests. Guest speakers have been known to the 'volunteered' into a number of activities.
