<IBVA V1.8.8c >  8 april 1999 is final for 68K Mac (modem & printer port) & PPC Mac (modem & printer port).
Only Quick Drew Display. Coherence function is not correct.
it's works 5 MB memory and work with slow machine(speed is depend on fft overlap number).

IBVA V1.X.Y use Quick Drew Display.
IBVA V2.X.Y & V3.X.Y use Quick Drew Display & OpenGL Display.

IBVA V2.X.Yusb is for IBVA USB version prototype only. Not actual product.
 


IBVA V2 & V3 Coherence system configuration:

until IBVA version 2.2.6, coherence function is not correct.
after IBVA version 2.2.8, coherence function is correct.

IBVA version 2.5.3.1, coherence L-R sampling is correct that use serial port and/or PCI serial card.
IBVA version 3.0.7, coherence L-R sampling is correct that use USB serial adapter.

to get correct coherence data, need to use special hardware configuration, 1 & 2.

1:
need to use modified version 2 ch IBVA transmitter.

!!!!!!!!!!!:   do not make any radio transmission err for get good coherence data. need to put transmitter and receiver close.
 

connect  Two IBVA receiver to Two Mac serial port.
In case your Mac doesn't has serial port, need to use
MegaWolf PCI serial card and/or Keyspan SX PRO Serial card
 

2:
recommended Mac hardware.
2.1.A: G3 &G4 with PCI card slot:
2.1.B: install MegaWolf PCI serial card http://www.megawolf.com/ ( 2port and/or 4port ):
after install serial PCI card into Mac:
1: connect 2 ch IBVA to G3 + Blue/White G3 / G4 with Romulus/4 4 ch  and/or 2/2ch serial PCI card port.
2: install Romulus extension.
3: need to run "Romulus-Remus Tool" by MegaWolf, then select the port(s) , then select "Utilities" -> "Advanced Port Settings.." to set the
Rcv Interrupt  Threshhold to 1. (for both port)
if use Keyspan SX PRO Serial card http://www.keyspan.com then set Receive FIFO = OFF in advanced setup)
4: restart computer
5: run IBVA application, in the Edit menu, select "2 ch mode", select ch 1 for "Romulus-Remus Port 1", select ch 2 for "Romulus-Remus
Port 2", select "Use Serial port", then select "Active port(s)  ON".
6: power on bothtransmitter.
7: then you can see 2 ch display. you can set to coherence mode, or select OpenGL FFT mode, etc.
8: quite IBVA application. SW off for two transmitter.
9: once install Romulus extension, you can repeat from No.5
 

3:
for portable brain wave recording & Lab/In house experience.
record brain data to other recording device ( MD, Tape Deck, Video Deck, Camcorder that has 2 ch Line input )
Two transmitter's Mini Jack output connect to recording device's 2 ch Line input.
play back brain data from recording device.
recording device's 2 ch Line output connect to two receiver Mini Jack  ( SW to Tape IN )

this way can record good coherence data in field & Lab/In house. Then can play back with Mac.

Two Transmitters mini jack output connect to Video Camera Ch 3 & Ch 4 Line Input.
 

4:
USB port Mac:

connect two USB serial adapter:
need to use  two UC-232A  (www.aten-usa.com)
and/or
twoKeyspan 19 (www.keyspan.com)  (Receive FIFO = OFF in advanced setup )
(need to use 8 miniDIN to 9 DB straight cable that for connect IBVA reciver & USB serial adapter.)

1: connect two USB Serial Adapter to two USB port. ( can not to use USB 2/4-port Hub )
connect two IBVA receiver to USB Serial Adapter.
2: install USB Serial Adapter extension
3: restart computer
4: run IBVA application, in the Edit menu, select "2 ch mode", select ch 1 & select ch 2.
select "Use USB port", then select "Active port(s)  ON".
5: power on both transmitter.
6: then you can see 2 ch display. you can set to coherence mode, or select OpenGL FFT mode, etc.
7: quite IBVA application, then both USB Serial Adapter shows green LED ON/OFF. SW off for two transmitter.
8: once install USB Serial Adapter extension, you can repeat from No.4



ps:
if you like to use 2 ch mode, but no need to use coherence, then you can use two port Keyspan USB serial adapter with standard 2 ch IBVA (not modified transmitter). also relative coherence display mode can use with this system configuration.
Relative coherence mode :
Relative coherence functionwas designed for eliminate many type of noise that include un synchronizing sampling. This mode is useful for Live/performance experience and/or new brain wave signature analysis. need to use up to <IBVA V2.5.7>.

level 0.0 (in export data file, 0.0%) mean 90 degree phase sift.
level 1.0 (in export data file, 100.0%) mean 0 degree phase sift and/or 180 degree phase sift.

for long time coherence  recording, need to use modified version 2 ch IBVA transmitter.
Because of depend on two transmitters quartz accuracy.
to get good coherence for long time is not easy to use 2 ch ibva. it's effect by many different condition.
left - right brain condition, electrode -skin contact condition, amplifier filter phase sift effect ( in 0..60 Hz ), radio transmission condition,
software condition for get data from deferent serial/USB hardware port.
specially  two transmitter's quartz accuracy is problem for long time coherence calculation. 2 transmitter has deferent quartz accuracy. this cause
left right brain wave synchronization err.
get good long time coherence dataneed to customize two transmitter's clock circuit.

relative coherence display mode can eliminate this kind of problem. it's good for use for art, performance, etc.
for scientific research that use coherence need to use special system configuration with modified version 2 ch IBVA transmitter.




how to make modified version transmitter 2 ch IBVA:
need special electric skill for this customize. in case some problem then no warranty.
contact to Psychic Lab for this modification.

cut CH 1 transmitter's print circuit line that is SG-10, 19.2KHz number 2 pin out to 4040 CLK in No 10 pin, then
connect 4040 CLK in
No 10 pin to CH 2 transmitter's SG-10, 19.2KHz number 2 pin out. no need to cut for CH 2 transmitter. use one 10
cm wire for connect clock,  and two 10 cm wire for connect ground and power . This makes clock from CH 2 to CH 1, both
circuit works with same clock, then ok to use long time coherence experiment.

in case not use modified IBVA then coherence shows sometime low, mid and some time high.
following display  1, 2 & 3 sample shows that differences. this case use 10 Hz test oscillator. can see coherence in coherence count wall also.
even if not use modified IBVA, relative coherence display is correct.
Display 4 is use modified IBVA. always shows correct coherence information.

in 10 Hz coherence = 0. coherence count = 0. relative coherence = 1.0, relative coherence count = 64.


 

2 :  not use modified IBVA at time point 00.02.56.67.
in 10 Hz coherence = 0.5. coherence count = 32. relative coherence = 1.0, relative coherence count = 64.


 

3 :  not use modified IBVA at time point 00.04.31.67
in 10 Hz coherence = 1.0. coherence count = 64. relative coherence = 1.0, relative coherence count = 64.


 

4 :  use modified IBVA, at all time point
in 10 Hz coherence = 1.0. coherence count = 64. relative coherence = 1.0, relative coherence count = 64.



i designed IBVA V3.X.Y for 2 mode.

one is standard IBVA display (QD display mode) and other is  OpenGL display mode.
for OpenGL display mode need to use high speed Mac.

actually internal function is mixed up with Quick Drew way and OpenGL way. specially like user event handling is very deferent for both, that may cause serial data miss record. so i decide to get serial data as QD way, and OpenGL is for real time display. so, in case you like to get good recording, then no user interaction is recommended.
Once open OpenGL then can not access old display and menu function until select QD window. one of the reason i did this for keep two deferent mode as safety way.
