IN THIS WEEK'S BULLETIN
1. ANNOUNCEMENTS
NEW SHORT STORY AT THE STORY BANK Oliver Pell WANTED: NEW RINGMASTERAs is unlikely to have escaped anyone's notice that the dreaded time of exams is almost upon us and this will of course bring with it the usual collection of solid revision, endless work and mental breakdowns. For those of us in the Upper Sixth this will be our last set of exams at MTS and the few of us that have survived the 5/7 year slog will be moving on to pastures new and (hopefully) greener. Although the guidelines drawn up last year describing which websites can belong to the webring allow websites belonging to ex-pupils to remain on the webring for the duration of a pupils university course I can't help but feel that it would be a little ridiculous to have the ringmaster belonging to the ex-pupil category. (That's a long winded way of saying that it makes sense to have the a pupil of the school as the ringmaster). So, the 'job' of webring ringmaster is now up for grabs. Ideally a future ringmaster should be someone who is currently in the lower sixth or the fifth form but I'm not ageist and anyone in the fourths or above is free to apply. There are only a few restrictions: you must have a reasonable working knowledge of HTML; you must have access to some webspace to host the webring pages (not a problem nowadays with all the free stuff floating about) and you must have regular access to an internet account. This is all pretty obvious and I imagine that practically everyone on the webring would meet these criteria. Applicants would need to have a personal site on the webring while they were ringmaster although they need not have one now. It's not a particularly trying job now that everyone is up and running - at most it equates to 5 or 10 minutes a week. Interested people should send an e-mail to ringmaster@ridex.co.uk briefly stating their interest and any relevant experience by the end of May (although sooner is generally better). In the case of people I know personally a full life story is probably not necessary and a simple statement of interest would probably be enough. As a final note to those people who seem to love to reply to an e-mail by phone, anyone who calls me about this will be instantly taken out of the running, e-mails only please. Ringmaster 2. This is not an automated system so you can tag on any comments you would like. Alternatively, if you know your onelist password you can remove yourself from the mailing list from the Egroups page. This list is used solely for non-commercial purposes and will usually involve one e-mail a month. The MTS Webring update contains announcements from webring members and statistics regarding the webring. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
