Born in Inverness 1968, Left for the lowlands in 1971 at the tender age of 3. Lived in various places but grew up in Peebles. My interest in photography started while I was still at school but only to a very limited degree. After leaving school I attended a number of college courses, not really knowing what I was going to do with my life. I returned to photography working freelance for artists and crafts people, documenting their work both for their portfolios and for press release. During this period my own work began to take a specific direction, Landscape photography, looking at both the wider view and in close detail. Almost all my work is in black and white, hand printed in my darkroom on various paper surfaces, but mostly fibre based paper or silver gelatine prints on hand made paper. Over the last couple of years I have strived to produce the highest quality of print possible, using fine grain film and taking great care in washing and preparing the negative for printing. The photographs I have selected for this web site are a reasonable cross section of my work, photographs from all over Scotland and also some from Eire.
