'Kingpin'

Brought to you by the same people who made 'Dumb and Dumber' several years ago comes 'Kingpin'. A story about Roy Munson, a professional bowler who had the whole world in the palm of his hand until it was shoved into a bowling ball re-loading machine. Years after, Roy’s career is down the toilet, he has become an alcoholic, and he doens’t have a job. Even the term "Munson’d" (which shows up in various parts of the film) has been coined after his failure.

Anyway, enough about the movie itself. I thought the Laserdisc transfer on this movie was acceptable, but not perfect. The audio in AC-3 is the same, not wonderful but not horrible either. I could have listened to this LD on a Pro Logic system and still have been more than satsified. But one thing I must commend the Kingpin LD for is the fact that Chapter markers on the disc are all in very convinient places.

If you have a laserdisc rental store in your area, I’d recommend this for rental if you haven’t seen it yet. But don’t run to the store to buy an AC-3 processor for this movie.. it really doesn’t need it. If you liked 'Dumb and Dumber' I have a feeling you’ll also enjoy much of the comedy in 'Kingpin' as well.
