Published in August 2000 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the organisation,
this book contains a diverse series of articles contributed by 41 members 
from 20 countries.  The material has been collated and edited by Roberto 
Quercetani and Bob Phillips.

Work has been under way since the late 1960s to produce annual lists for 
the years prior to the founding of the A.T.F.S.  The results are contained 
in a series of volumes covering (1) 1929-1936; (2) 1937-1944; (3) 1945-1950 
and (4) 1921-1928.  The 5th volume will cover the pre-1921 period, but is 
not expected to be ready for publication before 2003.

Principal compilers have been Roberto Quercetani, Rooney Magnusson, Donald 
Potts and Nejat Kök, with assistance from Eric Cowe, Wally Donovan, Palle 
Lassen, Luigi Mengoni, Fulvio Regli and Otto Verhoeven.

The first comprehensive and authoritative compendium following World War II 
was "A Handbook on Olympic Games Track and Field Athletics", compiled by 
Donald Potts and Roberto Quercetani, and published by the former in 1948.
