Before Marc's tragic and untimely death he laboured and struggled with himself over one project more than any other. For reasons best known to himself the project was never completed - he repeatedly went back to it only to shelve it yet again - prefering to wait...
The project was called The Children of Rarn Suite. It dealt with a mythical land named "Beltane" inhabited by peoples that worshipped a God named Rarn. Marc had a complete story worked out, a conflict, a war and battle, the overcoming of evil by good, and a transformation of the people into a new world.
In 1978 Tony Visconti (Marc's record producer until 1975) resurrected the suite in two versions - one was the pure unadulterated demo tape featuring Marc and his guitar, the other incorporating Tony's best efforts at "filling in the gaps". It was a valiant effort - not least because Tony had one eye on the fans and knew that any breach of Marc's integrity would be pounced on immediately. Sadly a personal tragedy in my life meant I lost my copy...
