Name: Natalie McDonald EMail: natalie@shore.net subject: CHILD in BELTANE! age: almost 37 Favourite Marc Bolan Song: I'll be here all night with this one! I dunno, maybe "Cadillac," "Midnight," both versions of "Buick Mackane"? Most people identify me with "The Third Degree," but I have also recorded my liberal interpretations of "Lofty Skies" and "Billy Super Duper" because they, too, have affected me so profoundly. I would also have to show my regional pride by listing any and all songs which were either recorded in and or make reference to my NYC/NJ homeland: "New York City," "Dandy in the Underworld," "Jeepster," "Baby Boomerang," etc. Hey, if I keep this up, you'll have to double your disk space, Russ -- I'm only on the first field of the form!! Favourite Marc Bolan Album: The 3-record "20th Century Boy" compilation from Australia; it contains many of my personal and lesser-known favorites ("The Third Degree"/"San Francisco Poet", "Oh Baby" and so much more)! Favourite Marc Bolan Quote: The spoken intro to the "Futuristic Dragon" album, right down to the blood-curdling scream at the end: "Deep beneath an ancient shadow/Stunned with age and too much wisdom/Reclining in glass with eyes too steep/Relentless dimensions of quadraphonic sleep/Dwelt the wild, grinding cyclopean pagan/Screaming destruction in sheer dazzling raiment/A thunderbolt master, a 'lectronic savior/A gold galactic raver/The Futuristic Dragon/Yes...and I do mean 'yes' [scream]" Also, a special mention to that hilariously scatalogical short story Marc wrote as a teenager about living in a shared flat in London. Required reading at "Marc's Handwritten Prose" on Rockmine! First Bolan experience: "Look, look, look/I could write a book/About my life" -- anyone who's got the time and patience to wade through my autobiographical saga is cordially invited to drop by at Depth Charge! , wherein I shall prattle on ad infinitum about this subject so near and dear to my heart! What would you like to tell the world about Marc Bolan: My discovery of Marc Bolan at age 11 irrevocably altered the course of my life in so many wonderful ways. There's something so inexplicably beautiful that bonds T. Rex fans around the world together. Why, even today in 1996, most of my friends from that magical era remain no more than a quick phone call or e-mail away. Sure, "one day we change from children into people", but our appreciation of Marc's words (lyrics/interviews/poetry) and music (from the most obscure demos to the best-produced Top 10 singles) will remain with us forever. How did you find this site: The Slider listserv...bring yer fire extinguisher and asbestos gloves before subscribing ;-) Comments: "Scroll on -- hey, hey, hey!" I adore these animated .gif files. There's so much going on at all three of these fabulous sites that "I'm overloaded, my head's exploded" and I've got to sign off and listen to "Oh Harley (The Saltimbanques)" just to regroup! Wishing you lots of success, N*
