Last year I took my first look at Everton's finances. I concluded that Everton were falling behind in off-the-field activities and had needed the GBP 15 million rights issue just to put the clubback on a sound financial footing. I hoped for a rapid improvement in the club's performance to build on that renewed good standing.
With the publication of the 1997 accounts, together with the 1997edition of Deloitte's review of Football finances, I have now had an opportunity to see how well Everton have done.
This is, in part, a trawl through published figures and accounts, in part a critique of the way Everton is operating commercially.
I have recently added designs for a redeveloped Goodison created by Tom Hughes.
