On both my visits to Rapa Nui I stayed at the Residencia Ana Rapu and so this section is more than slightly biased. Residencia Ana Rapu is a small, family run guest house in the south of Hanga Roa. Ana Rapu runs the place but don't be surprised if her children help out with the chores. Prices range from around US$7 per night camping to under US$50 for a nice double room with its own facilities. There are many guest houses on the island but Ana boasts that she is the cheapest and the best. |
|
For an additional US$7 per person, Ana will cook a typical dinner at around 8pm. In many cases this is local fish, including tuna, caught by her husband or bought fresh in the local market that day. Delicious! There are a number of international standard hotels with prices upwards of US$80 per night for those who prefer modern comforts. the most expensive, Hotel Hanga Roa, charges nearly US$150 per night. |

Every plane is met by the many guest house owners, including Ana, so it is very easy to find accommodation on the island. Ana Rapu can be contacted on telephone number 100-540 or write to her (preferably in Spanish) at:- |
