Considerations are how much time it takes the teacher to learn how to use it, how
accessible it is to the students, and the relevance of the learning experiences gained

AEGIS - An Educational Geographical
Information System.

A G.I.S. is a piece of application software that combines the
search capabilities of a database with the spatial arrangement of a mapping program and is
therefore very useful for Geography. Although looking somewhat dated, AEGIS is almost
instantly accessible, giving the students a great buzz by allowing them to produce a range
of maps which can be printed within minutes.
Furthermore the software is relatively easy to incorporate into GCSE and A-Level
fieldwork, giving it that extra credibility when it comes to marking!
