The Kinora Library - A Desriptive List of Moving Pictures that you may see in your own Home(Note: please do not confuse this catalogue with the Kinora booklet previously published by The Projection Box).New discovery 2001! When we published Barry Anthony's "Kinora" booklet in 1996, an attempt to list known Kinora reels, there was no known example of an existing Kinora reels catalogue. Recently, Pierre Patau has obtained a Bond's Ltd. catalogue, c.1911, and has made this available to The Projection Box for reproduction. By 1911, some earlier reels had been discontinued, but many subjects not in our re-created listing appear here, and other subjects are more precisely titled and described, adding considerably to our knowledge of the full range of reels. This catalogue finally shows us exactly which reels were available to the public at one particular time. The Kinora system - a miniature mutoscope for domestic use - was invented by the Lumieres in 1896, based on an idea by Herman Casler. It was launched in France, and after 1900 became very popular in England. The reels comprise 'actuality' scenes of life in the early years of the last century; clips from 'special effects' films; news events; actors and dancers; and many more subjects. Publication of this catalogue in a limited, numbered facsimile edition for researchers, archivists and collectors is a joint project between The Projection Box and Pierre Patau.
