"Thank you ladies and
gentlemen, your applause is most
appreciated..."
Our magic lanternist, the Reverand Horace Lampwicke, is using just two stages of a triunial (triple) lantern. With two stages impressive "dissolving views" can be shown, where day turns to night, or Summer to Winter. The third stage makes it possible to superimpose falling snow, or flashes of lightning.

Rev. Lampwicke is showing mainly comic slip-slides today, but these expensive lanterns were more often used for serious lectures, frequently using photographic slides.

With powerful limelight illuminants, the gas jet produced by a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen from cylinders, large pictures could be shown to audiences of a thousand or more.
